Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy

This is a surgery to remove one or both adrenal glands through small cuts in the belly or side. The adrenal glands sit on top of the kidneys and make important hormones like adrenaline, cortisol, and aldosterone.
Indications for Surgery:
Adrenal Tumors: Can be non-cancerous (like adrenal adenomas) or cancerous.
Hyperaldosteronism: When too much aldosterone causes high blood pressure and low potassium.
Cushing’s Syndrome: Caused by the body making too much cortisol.
Pheochromocytoma: A tumor that causes the body to make too much adrenaline.
Adrenal Cysts: Fluid-filled sacs on the adrenal glands.
Procedure:
Anesthesia: You will be under general anesthesia and won’t feel anything during the procedure.
Small Cuts: The surgeon makes 3–4 small cuts in your belly or side.
Camera Inserted: A thin camera (laparoscope) shows the inside of your body on a screen.
Special Tools Used: Slim instruments go in through the other cuts to do the surgery.
Removing the Gland: The adrenal gland is carefully removed without harming nearby areas.
Closing the Cuts: The small cuts are closed with stitches or surgical glue.
Advantages of Laparoscopic Colorectal Resection:
Less Pain: Smaller cuts mean less discomfort after surgery.
Faster Healing: You can go home sooner and get back to daily life more quickly.
Lower Risk of Infection: Small cuts reduce the chance of getting an infection.
